Daphne Blue over Dakota Red Strat made from all-US parts. The body came to us as one of those ‘projects’ some people occasionally decide to take on. They got part the way through stripping off the paint and realised, ‘hey, this is difficult’. Then gave up and made it available to us to see what we could do with it. The only sensible strategy was to start again. The body was stripped down to bare wood, then painted red, then over-sprayed with Daphne Blue, then reliced to look like it had been slept and played with for a couple of decades. Add one of the best necks we’ve ever felt, and a set of American pickups and other hardware, and a whole lot more sweat and tears, and hey presto another work of John-genius.
