Not long after the Santa Ana Devil, we happened upon this right-handed 1996 Rickenbacker 330. About the same age as my own lefty 330, Santa Ana Black. She’s probably the guitar I play the most and therefore has the look and feel of a natural relic. I loved the way the high-gloss had dulled and the pain gently wore through at the edges, and so we thought we should do the same for Red. She’d been well and truly played in by her owner so, after a fret-dress and precision set-up, now plays just like the proverbial butter, and has a sound to die for.
She’s what you might call a ‘light relic’ to match my (never for sale) Black.
