A001: Santa Ana Devil I

The guitar that started it all. My precious 1982 Rickenbacker 360 V64 12-string. I bought it in the early 1990s from a guy who’d decided to save a bit of money by making his own case. When I moved house a few years ago, the guitar sat in the case for several months. When I took it out, the foam had rather spectacularly self-destructed and in so doing had attacked the guitar’s paintwork. I could’ve claimed on the insurance, but I thought, let’s try a relic’ing experiment and see what happens. It was the first commission I gave to John, and I have to say, despite his trepidation, it turned out wonderfully. So wonderfully, in fact, we decided we had to do more… and Andraste Custom Shop was born.

Following it’s heavy relic and a proper set-up, my Santa Ana Devil really stepped out of her shell. She plays like a dream and, played through my JC120 has a sound that can still bring a tear to my eye. A very reluctant sale this one.
